Meet the Team

Calvin Smith is an accomplished jeweler with thirty years of bench-work and design experience. His passion for quality and unique design has helped him build a solid reputation as a leader in his industry. He is always looking for ways to improve the Calvin's experience for his customers. Calvin runs day-to-day operations with his wife, Jackie. Together Calvin and Jackie have three sons.

Jackie Smith (pictured with Apollo) not only manages the business with Calvin, she is the creative force and head designer behind Calvin's custom work. Jackie is our in-store interior designer and event planner as well. She also handles donations to our favorite local charities. Apollo is Calvin and Jackie's standard poodle and our store mascot. He's always happy to meet new customers and his playful attitude keeps us all in good spirits.

Kathy Smith is Director of Sales. She helped her brother Calvin start the business in 1997. After years of working side by side, Kathy has seen the store grow from a small operation to a multi-faceted business. Kathy spent a brief stint working with Katharine James, one of the designer lines that Calvin’s carries, but has recently re-joined the staff and Calvin’s couldn’t be happier. Kathy’s specialty is personal shopping, and she’s always available to help you pick the perfect gift!

Katherine Rudd is a sales professional with ten years experience in sales and custom design. She has a B.A. in business and marketing from Texas A & M University. Katherine works with Jackie to design new pieces for the Calvin's Collection. She is also a consultant for custom design.

Sandy Chapa is our Shipping Manager, and ensures that all of our shipping and receiving runs smoothly. Sandy helps out on the sales floor as well and has 15 years of sales experience. She feels lucky to be able to count some of her favorite repeat customers as close friends. Sandy also enjoys spending time with her two daughters, son-in-law, and her three dogs.

Laura Edwards is a published photographer and videographer, a Calvin's administrative staff member and Web Operations Manager of CalvinsJewelry.com. Laura also manages Calvin's inventory and does all of the store appraisals. She has an bachelors degree in Communications for cinematography and film production from the University of Texas at Austin. She is also a GIA Accredited Jewelry Professional (AJP).

Lindsey Hess holds a B.A. in education from Texas State University. After a brief stint at a national luxury jewelry retailer, Lindsey decided she'd rather work for a local, family-owned business and has been with Calvin's ever since.

Kristina Watkins is an accomplished bench jeweler. After graduating from the University of Arkansas and the prestigious Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts, she joins Calvin’s as our second jeweler. Kristina is also our chief photographer, and when she’s not working on jewelry at Calvin’s, she creates beautiful pieces of her own.

Shelby Koffel is a part of the Calvin’s sales and design team. She is also involved in day-to-day operations of CalvinsJewelry.com, and is the smiling face on our Live Chat feature. Shelby is also responsible for content on our Facebook page and Blog. She is an avid sports fan (especially her alma mater, The University of Texas) and is involved in several local nonprofits, notably the Young Women's Alliance, Austin Under 40, and Austin Partners in Education.

Robert Sanchez is a retired police officer who keeps everyone at Calvin's safe. He is the smiling face you'll see when entering our store. Proud to be the father of two children, he is also the grandfather of two little girls whom we are always happy to have around the store.   Photos courtesy of Sarah Whitfield.
