Michael Bogosian, aka Michael B., was born in 1950 in Istanbul, Turkey, former capital of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires and home to a jewelry making tradition spanning over two millennia. At age 10, Michael began designing and handcrafting exquisite jewelry under the supervision of one of the premiere jewelry manufacturing houses in Istanbul. At 16, he arrived in the United States and at 21 founded Matthew’s, Los Angeles’ premiere jewelry boutique named after his first son.  Now managed by his wife Aida, Matthew’s caters to some of the top names in the entertainment industry. In 1983, Michael was commissioned to create a magnificent jeweled egg symbolic of the Romanov eggs made by the House of Fabergé in czarist Russia.  Placed on display at San Sylmar Museum, the egg remains a testament to his creative genius and passion for supreme craftsmanship.

In the 1990’s, Michael B. emerged as the world’s preeminent platinum and diamond bridal designer.  In 1997, he received the Town & Country Couture Conference Platinum Award; in 1998, he earned the Platinum Passion Design Competition; and in 2003, he was crowned Couture Conference Designer of the Year.  In 2008, he was named Best in Platinum Design by his peers in the JQ International Jewelers Choice Awards, and received a JCK Best Bridal Design Award for the stunning Petite 3 Sided Princess with Diamond Prongs and Tips.

Michael B. was first to implement Micro Pavé, an intricately painstaking yet elegant method of setting ultra-miniature diamonds to lend a more delicate ambience to the center stone than had ever been achieved. When he introduced the Trois Collection, Michael B. set another trend by incorporating a matching band on each side of the center engagement ring to create perfect symmetry and balance.  The look became so popular that all engagement rings from the Michael B. bridal line can now be fitted with a wedding band on each side. Michael B. was first to focus not just on the outside of the ring but on the inside as well.  He eliminated unsightly holes inside the ring, resulting in a look that is smooth, solid and unmistakably Michael B. Unmatched in substance, the timeless design and impeccable craftsmanship of Michael B. are second to none.
