Collection and Security of Your Personal Information:
You know we won't sell or give away your personal information, but our lawyers make us tell
you that anyway. We'll ask you when we need information that personally identifies you (that's
your personal information) or that allows us to contact you. We might use the information you
give us to contact you and provide a service or carry out a transaction that you have
requested (such as buying a piece of jewelry or receiving information about special
sales or events). The personal information is pretty much what you think it is: your
name, title, address, e-mail address, telephone number, and credit card information.
Because of the way the world wide web is run, our website may also collect certain information
about your visit, such as the name of the Internet service provider you used and the Internet
Protocol (IP) address you used. The website might also collect information like which pages you
looked at when you visited the website and when you accessed it. If you direct linked to our
website from another website, we'll probably know that, too. Sometimes people want to know why
we collect that information. If you're not one of those people, you probably won't care about
what comes next. For those of you who do care, we use this collected information to help
improve our website; to figure out whether there are patterns in what people shop for; to
improve the service we provide to our customers; to analyze visits and purchasing trends;
and generally to administer the site efficiently.
At some point, we may ask you to provide us general other information about yourself, like
your profession, important dates, and types of jewelry you are interested in. If we ask and
you don't want to tell, no problem. Otherwise, we might be able to use the information to keep
in touch with you from time to time and let you know of a particular piece of jewelry we think
you'd like, or a special offer you might want to know about. Of course, it's all up to you. We
care about our customers and want them to be happy. We've designed this website so that you can
allow us to do as much or as little for you as you like.
Now the good news: all of the information we get we keep to ourselves (by "ourselves" we mean
our company and the people who help us manage the website and process your transactions ). We
won't sell it or give it away to anyone else, for any reason. So whatever you're giving her (or
him, or yourself) will stay our secret.
When you or we transmit sensitive personal information (like a bank account number or a credit
card number) over the Internet, we protect it through the use of SSL encryption. We use only
protection and encryption protocols that are the industry standard.
When we built this website, we learned a lot about cookies. You can't eat them, but they can be
pretty good. A cookie is a small text file that our web page server puts onto your computer. It
won't hurt you or your computer; it isn't a virus and we can't spy on you. It is only usable by
our web server to recognize you when you come back to our website, which we hope you'll do
often. Basically, the cookie will allow you to return to our website and go directly to the
information you found previously. If you use our website's customization feature (for
example, when you're looking for "engagement rings,") the cookie lets you go back to
that page right away, without having to monkey around with the rest of the website
navigation. If you don't want to use cookies, you can turn them off on your
computer. We'd tell you how, but our lawyers won't let us talk about anything
except jewelry. We can tell you it's easy, though. We never did figure out why
they're called "cookies," though.
A word about kids: we like kids at Calvin's, and we're glad to work with them for
special purchases. But if you're under age 18, please don't send us any personal
information. And for purchases over $500.00, we'll probably need a parent or
guardian's approval.
Every once in a while, the computer programs that run our website may decide to hold
a sale without telling us. Even though we do everything we can to be sure what you see on
the website for pricing and descriptions is accurate, you may occasionally find an incredible buy
that looks too good to be true. It probably is. We can’t honor erroneous or inaccurate prices. If you
have questions about price or a description, call us at 1-866-794-1911, otherwise, you will be notified
of any changes or inconsistencies before your order is sent.
At Calvin's we like to joke around but we're serious about this privacy policy. If
you have any suggestions or think we might have violated it in any way, let us
know. You can reach us at:
