The Extra Mile
As an extra service to our clients, we provide complimentary cleaning, polishing, and inspection of all fine jewelry purchased from Calvin’s. In addition to routine maintenance, with any purchase, most sizing and center stone setting is done in-house, and at no charge. Occasionally, jewelry is sent to the original designer for special alterations, setting or repairs. We will individually determine the best way to handle each customer’s repair needs at the time of service. If a repair, sizing or setting will require a service fee, it will be thoroughly explained before the work is done. Our goal will always be to exceed expectations and to treat our customers honestly and fairly.
We want every customer to have an exceptional experience. Our desire is not only to assist in the purchase of treasured jewelry, but to get to know our customers and build lasting relationships with them.
An increasing number of insurance companies are requiring their customers to provide appraisals signed by a Graduate Gemologist. Our GIA Graduate Gemologist, Russell Orms, provides our on-site jewelry appraisal services. With more than 25 years in the jewelry industry, Russell has a keen understanding and knowledge about a wide variety of jewelry. Russell provides new as well as updated appraisals. He is available Tuesday through Friday and by appointment.
In addition to being a GG, Russell meets federal USPAP standards, is a member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers and is active with the American Society of Appraisers. During the first year, under normal wear conditions, we maintain and repair Calvin’s jewelry purchases at no charge. This service includes replacing items such as accent diamonds that might fall out of pave settings. Accidental damage or loss of center gemstone is covered by your insurance company, and we will work with them to help get your jewelry replaced or repaired like new. Most repairs are done in-house, but occasionally we will send repairs to our custom shop when more highly specialized work is required. Whenever we send jewelry out for repair, it is of utmost important to us, and all pieces are covered through our insurance.
