Family-Owned Austin Jeweler Since 1997

Jeweler Near Bastrop, TX

Looking for a jeweler near Bastrop? SH 71 west brings you past the airport and into Austin, and we're on Far West Boulevard, just off MoPac, about an hour from the Lost Pines.

For nearly three decades CALVIN'S Fine Jewelry has been the Smith family's store. We build rings at a bench in the back of the shop, and the staff on the floor are trained and certified by GIA, so you'll get real answers about any stone you're considering.

From Bastrop and the Lost Pines, people mostly come to us with a proposal or a wedding coming up, though plenty bring a box of older pieces that need sizing, cleaning or an appraisal while they're here.

From the Lost Pines to Far West Boulevard

You'll find us at 3818 Far West Boulevard, Suite 102, Austin, TX 78731. Depending on the way you cross the city, downtown Bastrop is 36 to 40 miles off, which usually means 50 to 65 minutes behind the wheel. Saturday morning is the gentlest time to do it.

Calvin Smith III learned jewelry from his father and opened CALVIN'S in 1997. He still does bench work, and Jackie Smith, co-owner and designer, is in the store with him. Learn more in our story.

Engagement Rings for a Lost Pines Proposal

Asking under the loblolly pines at Bastrop State Park, or by the Colorado River downtown? Start the ring a couple of months ahead. You can pick a setting from our Iconic Collection and choose the center stone, or design something fully custom with us.

Plan on an hour for your first consultation. We'll put loose stones in front of you, narrow the shape and metal, and agree on a budget; you then sign off on a 3D CAD model before casting begins, and a custom piece is finished six to eight weeks later. The custom process explains each stage, and our engagement rings and custom work are worth a look beforehand.

Getting Married at the Hyatt Lost Pines or ColoVista?

Bastrop is a wedding town, from the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines on the Colorado River to The Mansion at ColoVista and the Pecan Street Inn downtown. Whichever you've booked, give the wedding bands four to six weeks so there's time for sizing and engraving.

Our women's wedding bands run from plain gold to diamond and eternity styles, plus curved bands made to sit flush against an engagement ring. Men's wedding bands come in gold, two-tone, textured finishes and tantalum. Need something for the wedding party? The gifts page is a good place to look.

Natural and Lab Grown Diamonds, Compared in Person

We stock both natural diamonds and lab grown diamonds. A lab grown center stone usually costs far less than a natural one of the same size, so the same budget goes further. A natural diamond is rarer and holds more of its value. One of our GIA-certified associates will put them side by side and walk you through cut, color, clarity and carat. You can read GIA's 4Cs guide first if you like.

Repairs, Appraisals and the CALVIN'S Promise

Bring the whole jewelry box. Sizing, prong work, replacing a lost accent stone, and a professional clean and polish are all handled by our own bench jeweler, wherever the piece was bought. Need a valuation for a policy or an estate? Alexandra de Marigny (GIA Graduate Gemologist, ISA member) keeps her appraisal office inside our showroom; phone first so she can hold an hour for you.

Pieces from CALVIN'S carry our Promise: twelve months of warranty, lifetime cleaning, polishing, inspection and sizing at no charge, and our help filing with your insurer should a center stone ever go missing. Every service we offer is on this list.

Getting Here from Bastrop

Take SH 71 west out of Bastrop toward Austin. Past the SH 130 interchange you'll run by Austin-Bergstrom airport and into the city. From there, the fastest way across town to MoPac depends on the time of day, so we'd put our address into your maps app and let it choose between Ben White Boulevard and US-183. Either way you finish on MoPac at the Far West Boulevard exit.

Pull in off Far West Boulevard; parking in front of Suite 102 costs nothing and there's no ticket to validate. Map it from Bastrop or read our visitor information.

Why Bastrop County Customers Make the Trip

Three things, mostly. The owners are the ones making and setting the rings. Our GIA-trained staff will tell you plainly what a stone is and isn't. And we look after what you buy, free, for life. If spreading the cost helps, Wells Fargo financing is offered with approved credit.

Customer stories are collected on our reviews page. Shopping more than one store? Jewelers of America publishes a short checklist for picking a jeweler that's worth reading first.

Plan a Saturday Trip

Doors are open 11 to 6 Wednesday to Friday and 10 to 5 on Saturday; Sunday to Tuesday we're closed. Drop-ins are fine, though for a ring consultation it's smart to reserve a time before you make an hour's drive. Phone (512) 794-1911, write to hello@calvinsjewelry.com, or send a note through our contact form.

We also see customers from Cedar Creek, Paige, Red Rock, Rockne and Wyldwood. Closer to US-290? Try our jeweler near Manor and Elgin page. Coming from the south? See jeweler near Lockhart.

Four to six weeks before the wedding is comfortable. That leaves time for sizing, engraving and a final fitting.

Usually. Most rings and bands can be sized and repaired at our bench. Tantalum and some full eternity bands can't be resized, and we'll tell you if that applies.
