CALVIN'S Fine Jewelry is the Smith family's independent store, on Far West Boulevard in Northwest Hills since 1997. Our own rings are designed and finished at our bench, and every associate is GIA-certified.

San Antonio Is Closer. Here's Why Some Come North.
Boerne sits on the doorstep of San Antonio, so you have plenty of jewelers nearer home. The couples who drive up to us generally want a ring built at the bench by the family that owns the store, a chance to compare natural and lab grown diamonds side by side before choosing, and an independent appraiser on site. If those matter to you, the trip makes sense. If you just need a quick fix, a closer store may suit you better.
We're at 3818 Far West Boulevard, Suite 102, Austin, TX 78731, about 92 miles from the Kendall County courthouse. Without traffic the Hill Country route takes just under two hours.
Who You'll Be Working With
CALVIN'S is Calvin Smith III's store. He trained as a jeweler under his father, opened on Far West Boulevard in 1997, and still works at the bench; designer Jackie Smith co-owns it with him. Here is the family story.
Engagement Rings, Designed Around You
Start from one of our Iconic Collection settings or design from nothing. Plan an hour for the first consultation; we'll compare loose stones, settle the shape, metal and budget, and you'll approve a CAD design before casting. Boerne Weddings
From The Kendall, across from Main Plaza, to Tapatio Springs out in the hills, Boerne has no shortage of wedding settings. Order bands about a month before the date. We carry plain gold, diamond and eternity women's bands, including curved bands designed to fit beside an engagement ring, and men's bands in gold, two-tone, textured and tantalum.
Holiday Gifts After Dickens on Main
Once Dickens on Main lights up the Hill Country Mile the weekend after Thanksgiving, gift season is on. Our fine jewelry includes diamond studs, pendants, bracelets and birthstone pieces, alongside designer collections from Michael M, Gabriel & Co and Royal Jewelry. Natural or Lab Grown?
Our cases hold both natural and lab grown diamonds, each selected by eye. For the same budget, lab grown usually means a noticeably larger center stone; natural means rarity and better long-term value. We'll lay them out together, and our GIA-certified staff will translate the grading reports into plain English.
Appraisals, Repairs and Lifetime Care
If you need a written valuation, our in-house appraiser can help. Alexandra de Marigny holds the GIA Graduate Gemologist diploma, belongs to the International Society of Appraisers, and prepares independent insurance and estate reports at our store. Give us a call before you come so we can schedule her around your visit. The workshop also resizes rings, rebuilds prongs and replaces missing accent stones on jewelry bought anywhere.
Purchases from us include the CALVIN'S Promise: twelve months of warranty, lifetime cleaning, polishing, inspection and sizing at no cost, and assistance with your insurer if a center stone is lost. All services are listed online.
Two Ways to Drive Up from Boerne
The Hill Country route is the shorter one: take SH 46 east, FM 3351 north through Bergheim to RM 473 at Kendalia, and RM 473 east to US-281. Head north on US-281 through Blanco to US-290, just south of Johnson City, then take US-290 east through Dripping Springs and Oak Hill to MoPac north and the Far West Boulevard exit. About 92 miles.
The interstate route runs about 107 miles: I-10 east toward San Antonio, Loop 1604 east, then I-35 north into Austin. It's longer and depends heavily on traffic. Either way, parking is free right outside Suite 102. Get directions from Boerne or see our location page.
Hours and Booking
Our hours are Wednesday to Friday from 11 to 6 and Saturday from 10 to 5; we close Sunday through Tuesday. With a two-hour drive each way, schedule ahead.
