CALVIN'S Fine Jewelry has been a family business since it opened in Austin's Northwest Hills in 1997. We build our own designs at our bench, and our team is GIA-certified.

Two Courthouse Towns, One Drive West
La Grange and Giddings both center on courthouses by the same architect, James Riely Gordon, and both have a straight highway into Austin. You'll find us at 3818 Far West Boulevard, Suite 102, Austin, TX 78731. It's about 68 miles from La Grange (an hour and a half to two hours) and about 56 from Giddings (70 to 90 minutes).
Calvin Smith III runs the store. He learned the craft as his father's apprentice, opened CALVIN'S in 1997, and still takes his place at the bench most days, while co-owner Jackie Smith handles design. There's more in our story.
Found Something at Round Top? Bring It In
When the Round Top antiques shows stretch along Highway 237 each spring and fall, a lot of vintage jewelry changes hands. If you've picked up an old ring or brooch, we can check the stones and settings, tighten or rebuild prongs, size it to fit, and tell you honestly what you have.
If you need a value on paper, for insurance or for selling, our resident appraiser can help. Alexandra de Marigny holds the GIA Graduate Gemologist credential and belongs to the International Society of Appraisers, and her independent appraisals are written right in our showroom. Heirlooms from Czech and Wendish Families
This part of Texas carries deep Czech and Wendish roots, from the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center in La Grange to the Wendish Heritage Museum in nearby Serbin. Family jewelry often comes with that history. We can resize an heirloom ring, repair it, or move its stones into a new design, and you'll approve a CAD drawing before any work starts. Engagement Rings and Wedding Bands
Choose an Iconic Collection setting or design from scratch in an hour-long consultation with real stones in front of you. Custom rings take six to eight weeks after you approve the design. Ask when you book which steps need you in person.
Getting married at Festival Hill in Round Top or the Ice Plant in La Grange? Order wedding bands about a month ahead for sizing and engraving. We carry gold, diamond and eternity bands for her, and gold, two-tone, textured and tantalum bands for him.
Natural and Lab Grown Diamonds
We sell both. Lab grown diamonds usually buy a larger stone; natural diamonds are rarer and hold more of their value. Our GIA-trained staff will show you both and explain the grading as you compare.

Directions from La Grange and Giddings
From La Grange, take SH 71 west through Smithville and Bastrop, past the Austin airport and into the city, then cross town to MoPac (Loop 1) north and exit at Far West Boulevard. Traffic decides the best crossing, so let your maps app choose.
From Giddings, take US-290 west through Elgin and Manor. Near Austin, the Manor Expressway's main lanes are tolled but its frontage roads are free. Continue west onto Koenig Lane (RM 2222), which becomes Allandale Road and then Northland Drive, and take MoPac north one exit to Far West Boulevard. Park for free outside Suite 102. We open at 11 Wednesday through Friday and close at 6, and Saturdays run 10 to 5; Sunday through Tuesday we're closed.
