A Straight Run West on US-290

We're at 3818 Far West Boulevard, Suite 102, Austin, TX 78731, about 90 miles from downtown Brenham. That's roughly an hour and three-quarters with open roads and up to two and a quarter hours in traffic. Nearly all of it is US-290, so it's an easy drive to plan around a booked appointment.

Calvin Smith III opened the store in 1997 after learning jewelry from his father, and he still does the bench work. His co-owner, Jackie Smith, is our designer. Read about the family in our story.

Bluebonnet Season Proposals

Washington County is famous for its spring wildflowers, and the Chappell Hill Bluebonnet Festival carries the Legislature's title of official Bluebonnet Festival of Texas. If you're planning a spring proposal among the bluebonnets, start the ring by midwinter. A custom ring takes six to eight weeks after you approve the CAD design.

Pick an Iconic Collection setting as your starting point or design something entirely new. Budget an hour for your first appointment, where we'll lay out loose diamonds to compare. Since you're coming from Brenham, ask when you book what has to happen face to face. Read how it works or browse engagement rings before you come.

Brenham Weddings

Whether you've booked the Barnhill Center at the Historic Simon Theatre, the ballroom at the Ant Street Inn or the garden chapel at the Antique Rose Emporium, order your bands about a month ahead for sizing and engraving. For her, there are plain gold, diamond and eternity bands, plus curved bands shaped to fit an engagement ring; for him, men's bands in gold, two-tone, textured and tantalum.

Natural and Lab Grown Diamonds

Our cases carry both natural and lab grown diamonds, chosen individually. Lab grown typically buys a bigger stone; natural is rarer and holds its value better. We'll show you both under the same light, and our GIA-certified staff will explain the grading in plain terms.

Family Jewelry from the Birthplace of Texas

Washington County is where Texas declared independence in 1836, and a lot of families here keep jewelry that's been handed down for generations. Our workshop can make an heirloom fit again, restore it, or reset its stones into a fresh design you sign off on as a CAD drawing. When you need a value for an estate or insurer, our resident appraiser, Alexandra de Marigny, a GIA Graduate Gemologist and ISA member, can prepare an independent report; phone ahead to reserve her time.

Repairs and the CALVIN'S Promise

Bring pieces from any jeweler for resizing, prong repair, accent stone replacement or a polish. And whatever you buy here is backed by the CALVIN'S Promise, our first-year warranty plus lifetime cleaning, polishing, inspection and resizing at no charge, with help on an insurance claim if a center stone goes missing. See every service.

Directions from Brenham

Take US-290 west through Burton, Giddings, Elgin and Manor. Approaching Austin, the Manor Expressway's main lanes are tolled for about six miles; the frontage roads alongside are free. Continue west onto Koenig Lane (RM 2222), which becomes Allandale Road and then Northland Drive, and take MoPac (Loop 1) north one exit to Far West Boulevard. Stay in MoPac's regular lanes rather than the Express Lane so you don't miss the exit.

The lot outside Suite 102 has free parking. Map the drive from Brenham, or check our visitor page first.

Plan the Day
